Experience abroad for staff

Teaching & Training

With Erasmus+, all employees (teachers, lecturers, administrative staff, trainees, etc.) of SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences have the opportunity to apply for financial support for, e.g. a teaching assignment or job shadowing at a partner university or for further training relevant to their own area of work. The selection is based on the criteria of how the trip contributes to the internationalisation of SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences, how profitable the trip is for the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences in general, i.e. the students benefit from it in their teaching or do new cooperation projects apply, etc., and of course also on the available budget.

Teaching at a partner university

Lecturers at SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences - professors, (external) lecturers and research assistants - can apply for funding for a stay at an Erasmus+ partner university.

You can gain teaching experience abroad, make contacts and explore opportunities for cooperation. At the same time, you strengthen the European dimension of the host university, complement its range of courses and impart cross-border expertise to those students who cannot or do not want to study abroad.

Information about the process

Place of mobility:
Teaching is possible at all partner universities of SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences with which the university or one of its schools has an Erasmus+ agreement.  Eligible countries include the member states of the EU, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey (programme countries).

Important: The country must not be your main country of residence. If you would like to teach at a partner universities outside the Erasmus+ programme countries, please contact the International Office at SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences to inquire about your possibilities.

Duration of mobility:
In order to give as many lecturers as possible the opportunity to do guest lectures, the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences supports stays between two days and two weeks. However, a maximum of 60 consecutive working days are allowed, which will be decided on a case-by-case basis. The minimum number of hours corresponds to 8 hours of lessons per week.

Seminars, lectures, talks, tutorials, supervision of doctoral students etc. A physical presence at the partner university is required. Online lectures from Germany are excluded.

  1. Contact your supervisor and your team and make arrangements (see business travel guidelines).
  2. Make sure that your actual work at the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences will not be affected during the planned period of your stay abroad.
  3. Contact the (potential) Erasmus+ host university, either directly or via the International Office of the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences.
  4. Register your interest in a guest lecture at a partner university at the International Office of the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences by filling in this form.
  5. Check whether you need a visa to enter the host country.
  6. Make a business trip application and send it first to the International Office so that the possible funding can be confirmed. The International Office will obtain confirmation from the university management and send you the signed business trip application (not necessary for external lecturers).                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              

The following documents must be signed before the start of your stay abroad: (templates will be sent by email by the International Office)

  • Mobility Agreement - Teaching with all three relevant signatures (Please coordinate the paper with the host university and the International Office of the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences)
  • Grant Agreement signed in original (funding contract for Erasmus+ funding)
  • Business trip application approved by the university management
  • Take lots of photos!
  • Have the confirmation letter signed by your host university on the last day of your mobility.

You usually have 30 days to submit these documents. Once all the documents have been submitted, the second instalment of the Erasmus+ grant can be paid. 

Training & further education abroad

Employees of SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences from the administration, library, controlling, International Office, Marketing, student service, technology and transfer departments and lecturers can apply for Erasmus+ funds for staff mobility such as further education and training.

The Erasmus+ programme supports further education and training measures (except research projects with direct research relevance and conferences) at corresponding institutions abroad and job shadowing at an Erasmus+ partner university.

Information about the process

Place of mobility:
A stay abroad is possible at a partner university of SRH with an Erasmus+ partnership agreement, in a company or in another relevant workplace abroad. In order to ensure high-quality mobility activities with the highest possible impact, the activity must be related to the staff's professional development and meet the requirements regarding their learning outcomes and personal development. Eligible countries include EU Member States, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey (Programme Countries).

Important: The country must not be your main country of residence. If you are planning a stay at partner universities outside the Erasmus+ programme countries, please enquire at the International Office of the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences about your options.

Duration of the mobility:

Please make sure that the amount of hours/work is appropriate for the total duration of your stay. It is essential to clarify the period and length of your staff mobility with your supervisor.

  • Submit the signed confirmation letter to the International Office
  • Fill out the EUSurvey (sent separately by e-mail via link)
  • Submit an experience report with photos of your trip.

Erasmus+ for guest lecturers from abroad

The exchange with representatives of international companies, for example through guest lectures and seminars at the schools of the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences, can also be supported through Erasmus+ funds.

The guest lecturers contribute with their experience and their perspective to the international diversity on the different campi at SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences and provide an insight into the everyday life of the company. In return, they can not only use the guest lecture for their personal enrichment, but also establish useful contacts for possible research, development, diploma thesis and/or company projects.

Information about the process

The Erasmus+ programme financially supports guest lectures with a duration of 2 to 14 consecutive (lecture) days. It is expected that activities directly related to the mobility programme will be planned for each day of the lecturer's visit.

The start and end dates are the first and last day on which the lecturer is present at the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences to carry out the activities described in the Mobility Agreement.

The exact dates of the guest lecture (in accordance with the above-mentioned Erasmus+ regulations) must be discussed and agreed upon with the programme director of the study programme which the guest lecture will be part of.

  • Ask the International Office internationaloffice.hsbe@srh.de about the possibilities of a guest lectureship at the SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences and discuss the time frame and content.
  • Please contact directly the person of the degree programme in which you would like to hold the guest lectureship or via the International Office.
  • Once all the details of the guest lecture have been finalised, complete the Mobility Agreement and have it signed by all three parties.
  • Check if you need a visa for your stay in Germany.

Please submit the following completed and signed ERASMUS+ documents to the International Office of SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences:

  • Mobility Agreement - Teaching
  • Grant Agreement originally signed (contract about the Erasmus+ funding)
  • Take lots of photos!
  • Have the confirmation letter signed by your contact person at SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences on the last day of your mobility and subit it to the International Office.
