More about the award

The university lecturers at SRH Berlin nominate suitable candidates. Students who recognise themselves in the award criteria can contact the teacher they trust and discuss a nomination; students cannot apply themselves.

Students from all schools can be nominated who have shown outstanding social commitment at SRH Berlin or in their private environment and have achieved good to very good academic results.

Bachelor's students should be at least in their 2nd year of study, Master's students should be at least in their 2nd semester of study, have good academic achievements and be socially engaged. Graduate students can also be nominated, whose graduation should not have taken place more than six months ago at the time of the award ceremony.

The DAAD Award cannot be granted to foreign students or exchange students. It cannot be divided among several students and, if possible, the candidates should still be in Germany when the award is presented. Furthermore, the award is not a research prize and is not intended to honour a doctoral thesis.

The nomination is made with the following documents to kirsten.matthes@srh.de:

  • Informal letter of recommendation (preferably as an email), in which the academic achievements and the suitability for the award are described by outlining the socio-social commitment; if applicable, proof of activity outside the university.
  • Curriculum vitae of the candidate
  • Proof of achievement from CampusNet

A selection committee chooses the award winner. The selection is made on a paper basis by the commission, which is composed of two members of the university management, the Academic Directors of the Schools and the Global Cooperation Institute, the International Office and the Student Union. The decision is made by circulation.

Due to the cyberattack, the original timeframe cannot be adhered to. We are therefore requesting nominations for the DAAD Award 2021 by 30.11.2021 at the latest.

The award winner will be informed in writing after the selection. The chairperson of the selection committee ceremoniously presents the scholarship certificate at the graduation ceremony; we publish the award on our website.
