SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences

Semester abroad in Spain

Our student Caroline shows us student life in Barcelona and talks about her unforgettable experiences.

Hi, I'm Caroline and I'm happy that I embarked on the Barcelona adventure. Just doing it has allowed me to get to know many different people and, above all, to experience myself in new situations. My story:

After a short trip to Spain (2018), I knew that I definitely wanted to spend a longer period of time in the country. So it was perfect that SRH has a partnership with a university in Barcelona! I applied directly for the  Erasmus Programm and ended up studying abroad at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
The university is located just outside Barcelona and is surrounded by lots of nature and smaller Spanish towns. In addition to the faculties, the campus also offers many green spaces, a canteen, many places to relax and even a gym. Thanks to Barcelona's international character, I got on very well with my English even without any previous knowledge of Spanish. There's nothing easier than getting to know new people through the Erasmus program, so after six months abroad I have people from all over the world among my friends. And of course I also learned some Spanish vocabulary. With a warm climate, a kilometer-long beach, winding streets and delicious food, people in the Spanish city spend most of their time outside.
Thanks to its central location, you can take spontaneous trips to nearby cities and if the lively atmosphere is too much for you, you can find peace and quiet in the beautiful nature of Catalonia in no time at all.

What did I learn?
By taking many courses at the university, I was able to gain many insights into other economic areas, independent of my previous modules.

It's well worth doing.
