BMBF and DAAD promote digital study abroad opportunities

The SRH university project "Digital Exchange: the accessible international experience" offers students the opportunity to gain new perspectives and experiences using digital formats.

Lisa Gibellino Marchetto

International Programmes Coordinator - Double Degrees and Digitalisation, Project Manager IVAC (on parental leave)

The project which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research aims to enable all students, regardless of family, financial or physical circumstances, to have an international and intercultural experience through virtual courses.

These virtual exchange formats and more study abroad periods are intended to not only help students deepen the skills that they have acquired during their studies but also train their digital and intercultural competences, thus preparing them for their entry into the German and global job market.

The project is divided into three clusters:

  • Development of IVAC (International Virtual Academic Collaboration) courses as pilot projects at the Berlin School of Management and the Berlin School of Popular Arts
  • Creation of a cross-university virtual exchange offer with a focus on diversity, online language courses, intercultural understanding and communication
  • More digital processes in the areas of international cooperation and mobility
